Bruxism Relaxer Plaque
A Gentle Approach to Jaw Relaxation
The Bruxism Relaxer is designed to support natural jaw relaxation during sleep without force or rigid positioning. Instead of locking the jaw in place, it gently supports natural oral reflexes and comfort-focused relaxation mechanisms.
Inspired by neurofunctional therapy principles and informed by modern understandings of sleep-related muscle tension, our approach focuses on softness, flexibility, and non-invasive support, helping promote a calmer and more comfortable nighttime experience.
The Science Behind the Design
-
Inspired by Neurofunctional Therapy Principles
Our design approach is inspired by principles used in Padovan Neurofunctional Therapy, a European-developed therapeutic method that focuses on supporting natural reflex integration and neuromotor patterns. In particular, gentle oral reflex engagement is believed to play a role in jaw positioning and muscle tone. These principles inform the soft, flexible, and non-invasive design philosophy of the Bruxism Relaxer.
The Bruxism Relaxer does not replicate or provide therapy, but applies selected principles in a comfort-focused product design.

Polyvagal-Informed Relaxation Approach
The Polyvagal Theory, developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, emphasizes the role of safety and calm sensory input in regulating the autonomic nervous system. Gentle, non-threatening sensory experiences, particularly during sleep, may support a shift toward a more relaxed physiological state. The Bruxism Relaxer is informed by these concepts, offering soft and calming oral sensory input designed to support relaxation rather than force or restriction.
